Begins the Construction of New Divisional Secretariat for Kalthota, Rathnapura.

The construction work of the new Kalthota Divisional Secretariat in the Ratnapura District commenced yesterday (2025.07.18) under the paticipation of the Ratnapura District Member of Parliament/Chairman of the District Coordinating Committee, Hon. Shantha Padmakumara.

This building complex, which is expected to cost around Rs. 388.81 million, is scheduled to be completed in around 15 months. S.D.S. Construction is carrying out this construction work under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Secretary (Engineering Services - Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council).

Currently, the Kalthota Divisional Secretariat is being operated in a temporary location. Once this building complex is constructed, it will be great convenience to the public in this area and staff of this Office. Kalthota Divisional Secretariat, which began as a Divisional Secretariat Sub-Office operating under the Balangoda Divisional Secretariat on 07th April 2018. Then it became a Divisional Secretariat on 02nd March 2021.

This Divisional Secretariat Division has consisted approximately 94 (Ninety Fours) square kilometers. Also, there are 12 Grama Niladhari Divisions are belonged to this secretariat. The names of the Grama Niladhari Divisions are No.258 Kalthota, No.258B Madabadda, No.258C Thanjanthanna, No.258F Kuragala, No.258E Neluyaya, No.259 Uggal Kalthota Left bank Left, No.259A Uggal Kalthota Left bank Right, No.260A Diyawinna, No.260B Welipathayaya, No.260C Molamura, No.260E Kalupedigama and No. 260F Kongahamankada The Honorable Sangha, Ratnapura District Member of Parliament Wasantha Pushpakumara, Rathnapura District Secretary/ Government Agent K.G.S.Nishantha, Additional District Secretary Amila Wijerathna, Divisional Secretary of Kalthota G.G.Nilanthi Weerasuriya and a group of others are attended to this occasion.
