National birth certificate issued in Ratnapura under digital system.

The inauguration program of issuing national birth certificate in digital way under the E-Population program introduced by the Registrar General Department, Ratnapura District Secretary/Department, Additional Registrar General K. G. S. held at the auditorium of Ratnapura Divisional Secretariat under the leadership of Mr. Nishantha.

From the first of January 2021 to 2025.02.26, children born in Ratnapura district will have the facility to obtain this national birth certificate from any local secretariat in the district. The Department of Registrar General hopes to further expand the service in the future.

This digital national birth certificate is a sophisticated, safer document than traditional paper certificate. Storage of information data systems that cannot be erased to reduce fake documents. Also best use internationally for foreign travel and legal work and does not need to conduct separate translations of birth certificates through being able to obtain certificate in Sinhala and English or Tamil and English. Also when any amendment of the birth certificate is done that information data system gets updated.

Also this digital national origin should exchange information with other institutions of government especially the department of registration of people, department of immigration and audit, ministry of foreign affairs, ministry of health, ministry of justice, pension department, department of people and statistics, ministry of education Mind is connected as much as possible.
Digital National Birth Certificate was awarded to 40 children symbolically in Ratnapura today (24). The first copy of this certificate will be released for free.
