Ratnapura District Inauguration Committee discussion on Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Infection (CBRN) Disaster Risks Reduction, held yesterday (25) at District Secretariat auditorium under the leadership of Ratnapura District Secretary K. G. S. Nishantha.
Here, with representatives of the stakeholder institutions working on a legal background in the management and control of biological, chemical, radioactive materials, a unique story was built about the existing legal background in the mitigation of such disaster risks, the existing capacities in each institution regarding disaster preparedness, awareness, immediate response and research and the areas that need to be further developed, and through this, the necessary basis was prepared to establish a district mechanism for minimizing such risks.
The resource of this program was given by Mr. Shan Pathirana, Assistant Director (Training and Awareness Division) of Disaster Management Center, Assistant Director (Media) Janaka Idun Pathiraja.
Officers who came representing various fields including Sri Lankan Army, Police, Special Task Force, Health Department, Industries, Local Government Institutions, Urban Development Authority, Central Environment Authority expressed their comments here.
